April 2010 - National Autism Awareness Month
National Autism Awareness month is celebrated annually in April. It is an opportunity for local communities to raise awareness about autism.

 April 2010 - The Toddle Waddle
The Toddle Waddle is a fun way for the under 5s to do their bit to promote awareness of Meningitis with their very own sponsored walk. It is the Meningitis Trusts largest annual fundraising event.

2 April 2010 - International Children's Book Day
Since 1967, on or around Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, 2 April, International Children's Book Day (ICBD) is celebrated to inspire a love of reading and to call attention to children's books.

Each year, a different member of the International Board of Books for Young People sponsors the event and selects the theme. This year's sponsor, the Egyptian Board of Books for Young People, has chosen the theme 'I Am The World'

17 April 2010 - World Haemophilia Day
This day is celebrated by haemophilia organisations around the world, and gives them an opportunity to increase awareness of haemophilia.

21-27 April 2010 - Global Campaign for Education Action Week
Global Campaign for Education started in 1999.  School fees have been dropped in many countries, millions more children can now go to school and the UK has just pledged $15 billion to education, which gives real promises that education for all might become a reality

22 April 2010 - Earth Day
Earth Day is a name used for two different observances, both held annually during spring in the northern hemisphere. These are intended to inspire awareness of and appreciation for the Earth's environment. The United Nations celebrates Earth Day each year on the vernal (March) equinox; while a global observance in many countries is held each year on 22 April.

23 April 2010 - World Book and Copyright Day
By celebrating this Day throughout the world, UNESCO seeks to promote reading, publishing and the protection of intellectual property through copyright. Books and reading are as important today as ever. 23 April: a symbolic date for world literature for on this date and in the same year of 1616, Cervantes, Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega all died.
